Michalis Nikolaou is a Pathologist – Oncologist, Attending Physician A, of the 1st Pathology – Oncology Clinic and Scientific Head of the Home Care Unit of the General Cancer – Oncology Hospital of Athens ‘Agios Savas’. He is the Initiator & Scientific Manager of the pioneering ‘OIKOTHEN’ program, which administers inpatient antineoplastic therapy for the first time in patients’ homes, resulting in the relief of hundreds of cancer patients. He is Vice President of the Greek Society of Oncological Pathologists (EOPE), President of the Professional Association of Pathologists – Oncologists of Greece (EEPOE), former President of the Young Oncologists Group of Greece (ONEO), Member of the Board of Directors of the Athens and Piraeus Hospital Doctors’ Association (HINAP), member of the General Assembly of the Federation of Hospital Doctors of Greece (OENGE) and representative of the Athens Medical Association (ASA) in the Panhellenic Medical Association (PIS). Despite his young age, he has a rich scientific, research, educational, writing and clinical work. Characteristics of his professional career are his many years of experience in ‘hospital medicine’, his special interest in clinical cancer research and his anthropocentric approach to the patient. His field of interest is ‘Health Policies’.
